Let It Go 03:40
She walks into the room Like a puppet on a string She sees everyone But it don't mean a thing Twisting in the shadows Under darkness of the night She sees the sun come up But she doesn't see the light Try letting go Try letting go Try letting go Baby try letting go Like a pile of dry wood Ready for the burn Steady through the valley dear Beyond no return Just keep me Oh just keep me satisfied You say its curiosity But that don't make it right Try letting go Try letting go Try letting go Baby try letting go Try letting go Try letting go Try letting go Baby try letting go

Harbour Town 03:51
This old town ain’t so little anymore Cars are driving where they never did before People won’t stop they got a place to be I’m listening to stories from the man across the street And the rain keeps pouring - crashing down And the fog creeps in all around And the tide rushes by and covers the ground The ghosts of this old town The theatre on the corner, oh where has it gone They say Chaplin was there once when this place was strong The last ship has sailed, Clear across the sea This glorious city is now down upon its knees And the rain keeps pouring - Crashing down And the fog creeps in all around And the tide rushes by and covers the ground The ghosts of this old town This old town This old town Beautiful building they never gave it a shot Now it’s lying on the ground soon to be a parking lot Don’t tell me theres nothing in those old walls If history repeats itself, it will make a fool of us all And the rain keeps pouring - crashing down And the fog creeps in all around And the tide rushes by and covers the ground The ghosts of this old town This old town

Plant A Seed 03:45
Waiting here in the dark wondering when it starts a little light to guide me through I didn’t figure it out until Grandpa told me to stand up straight Take pride in what you make Spend your days here outside If It makes you feel alive Feel the changing of the seasons Winters darkness begins to fade away Plant a seed and you let it grow Plant a seed and you let it grow Plant a seed and you let it grow Plant a seed and you watch it grow We moved out to the country a place where we can grow I don’t need to move away Here is where i want to stay living off the land Providing with our hands The whisper in the wind Has led me home again Feel the changing of the seasons Winters darkness begins to fade away This town of empty fields Barren farm land can still be healed Feel the changing of the seasons Winters darkness begins to fade away Plant a seed and you let it grow oh oh ohh oh oh oh oh

This is as far as I can go, Where it ends no one seems to know House on the hill by the willow tree Finally has taken ahold of me There were times when the road was clear, A little dark but we still could steer Winter came and took our breath away We could have changed but not today Don’t tell me it's a waste of time Don’t tell me it's a waste of time Don’t tell me it's a waste of time Just don’t tell me I wasted my time The chimney stands alone It's all that remains from a burnt out home Fields as far as the eye can see The tall grass just swallows me Don’t tell me its a waste of time Don’t tell me its a waste of time Don’t tell me its a waste of time Just don’t tell me I wasted my time

There's a hole in this place Where water likes to lay Raising up to the surface What is laying underneath Yeah-h-h Feel the wind it grows Shadows creep by as it flows Start the fire now Close the shutters Latch them down You could hide beside me Watch the orange embers glow Whisper words to each other So that no one will know Will this storm subside Leave us unharmed inside These four walls are strong The foundation is whats wrong You could hide beside me Watch the orange embers glow Whisper words to each other So that no one will know We can fix the roof no no no Stop the rain from coming in no no no We can do it in the fall no no no I will take the day off I'll take the day off the day off the day off the day off I'll take the day off the day off the day off the day off I'll take the day off I'll take the day ay yea Day ay yea Day ay ay yea Day ay yea Day ay ay ay

Big Man 03:20
Slithering around hiding out in those back rooms You don’t think were gonna figure out just what you do Take a little piece away, a little bit at a time There's people walking round here, thinking everything is just fine Big ole man thinking your so strong You think that were weak, were gonna prove you wrong Big ole man thinking your so strong You think that were weak, were gonna prove you wrong From up on the hill its easy to throw stones While you eat like a king, Tossin us just the bones Rush into the streets its time to let people know Tic Toc goes the clock, man its time for you to go Big ole man thinking your so strong You think that were weak, were gonna prove you wrong Big ole man thinking your so strong You think that were weak, were gonna prove you wrong

Miner's Song 03:55
I work my days down in the coal mine Been there days and days on end It's been a week since I've seen the sun shine That sun is my old friend My hands are stained black now Been since I was fourteen I'm just proud to keep my home Give my family what they need Digging deeper underground Puts food on the table A better life for my kids So they don't have to live like me Whoa oh oh oh ohhhh Whoa oh oh oh ohhhh Another baby not he way I'm gonna try and raise my pay There's little work in this town I guess the mine is where I'll stay Digging deeper under ground Puts food on the table A better life for my kids So they don't have to live like me Birds that sing keep me from going out of my mind Friends like brothers standing by my side I'm washed away, I will feel no pain Like the dust I'll rise and you will hear me sing Whoa oh oh whoa oh Whoa oh oh whoa oh Whoa oh oh whoa oh Whoa oh oh whoa oh oh oh

Soil and Ash 06:26
There’s a screeching I hear Calls to me like an old freight train And I’m screaming for you dont pull away from me yeah Your afraid and i know I will be there some day twisting darkness I feel so torn away This feeling inside somehow will bring me back to you I want you to know I’ll be ok This feeling inside somehow will bring me back to you I want you to know I’ll be ok The strength that I get from you touching my hand pulls me from shadows back into the light we will stand strong I know no matter which way it goes you’ll be waiting for me dont fade away this feeling inside somehow will bring me back to you I want you to know I’ll be ok this feeling inside somehow will bring me back to you I want you to know I’ll be ok

about

Earthbound Trio’s latest effort, ‘Ditch Flowers’ explores ideas of perseverance and growth, both from a personal and social perspective, and it’s title is a nod to the famous Neil Young quote, "Traveling there [the middle of the road] soon became a bore so I headed for the ditch. A rougher ride but I met more interesting people there.”

“None of us really live in the middle of the road,” Earthbound Trio’s songwriter and guitarist Doucette says, “but in the ditch we’ve found a whole ecosystem thriving and growing. We all know growing can be fulfilling but tough at times… In this release we’ve got some lyrics that are a little darker than what you might expect for upbeat songs - sometimes that’s what life offers up: A little dark with the light.”

Recorded by John McLaggan at Porchlight Studios and produced with Grant Heckman, Earthbound Trio intentionally kept the making of Ditch Flowers a local affair. Captured live off the floor with only a handful of overdubs, the band aimed to release a recording that was more indicative of their live shows: An album which simultaneously embraced and showcased their broad musical horizons yet maintained a lively, unscripted feel throughout.

about

Earthbound Saint Andrews, New Brunswick

Earthbound Trio is a band of music-loving, earth stomping, ‘nice boys’ from southern New Brunswick, Canada. On stage they resemble a traditional acoustic trio, but they blend elements of folk, funk, reggae, rock and effects to create a sound you wouldn’t expect from the acoustic instruments on stage. ... more
